BMR Health Tips

Understanding BMR

Basal Metabolic Rate is the number of calories your body needs to perform basic life-sustaining functions at rest.

What BMR Includes

  • Breathing: Oxygen intake and CO2 release
  • Circulation: Heart pumping blood
  • Cell production: Building and repairing cells
  • Brain function: Nervous system activity

Boosting Your BMR

  • Build muscle through strength training
  • Eat adequate protein
  • Stay hydrated throughout the day
  • Get quality sleep (7-9 hours)
  • Avoid very low-calorie diets

Important Note

BMR accounts for 60-70% of your daily calorie burn. Add activity calories to get your total daily energy expenditure (TDEE).
