Low-Calorie Drinks for When Water Feels Boring
Water is useful, but it does not have to be your only everyday drink. A few simple alternatives can add flavour and variety without quietly adding lots of calories.
Start with water, then change the experience
Still or sparkling water can feel quite different once you change the temperature, glass or garnish. Try it chilled, over ice or infused with slices of citrus, cucumber, fresh mint or berries, remembering to log anything you eat afterwards.

Unsweetened flavoured sparkling water is another option when you want fizz. Check the label because similar-looking drinks can contain very different amounts of sugar, sweetener and calories.
Explore tea beyond the usual mug
Black, green, herbal and fruit teas offer a wide range of flavours with few or no calories when served without milk or sugar. They can be brewed hot, cooled in the fridge or poured over ice for a different style of drink.

Extra ingredients are where calories can build up, so track milk, honey, syrups and sugar as you normally would. If plain tea tastes too sharp, experiment with brewing time, temperature or a different blend before adding sweetness.
Keep coffee additions visible
Plain coffee can be a low-calorie choice, whether you prefer it hot or served over ice. The final total depends on what you add, and milky or sweetened versions can be closer to a snack than a simple drink.

Logging each addition separately can make your usual order easier to understand. Cinnamon or a small amount of unsweetened flavouring may add interest, while the calorie content still depends on the exact ingredients used.
Choose sweetness deliberately
Low-calorie squashes and drinks made with sweeteners can provide variety if you enjoy a sweeter taste. Read the serving instructions and nutrition label, as the amount you pour and the way you dilute it affect what goes into your tracker.

Juice can also be mixed with still or sparkling water for a lighter-tasting drink, but it still contributes calories. Measure the juice rather than guessing, then save the combination in your tracker if you make it regularly.
