A classic Irish Coffee with strong coffee, Irish whiskey and a layer of lightly whipped cream. Easy to make, but always impressive to serve.
📝 Ingredients
- 120 ml strong coffee (freshly brewed)
- 40 ml Irish whiskey
- 1.5 tsp soft brown sugar
- 60 ml whipping cream (unsweetened)
👨🍳 Instructions
- 1Heat your glass by filling it with boiling water. Let it sit for 30 seconds and then pour out the water. This helps the Irish Coffee stay warm longer.Brew a strong cup of coffee of about 120 ml. Use ground coffee suited to your brewing method, such as a Moka percolator. Rich in flavour, not too light.Put 1.5 teaspoons of soft brown sugar into the warmed glass and pour the hot coffee over it. Stir well until the sugar is completely dissolved.Add 40 ml Irish whiskey and stir briefly.Lightly whip the cream in a bowl. The cream should be thick enough to float, but still just pourable. Do not whip it stiff.Carefully spoon the lightly whipped cream over the back of a spoon onto the coffee. This way the cream will float nicely as a separate layer on top.Serve immediately and do not stir. The trick is to drink the hot coffee through the cool cream.
