Apple crumble

- Bramley apples: 3. peeled. cored. and diced to 1cm
- Golden caster sugar: 150g
- Plain flour: 175g
- Butter: 110g. chilled
- Demerara sugar: 1 tbsp

Prepare the filling. Preheat the oven to 190ºC. Add the diced Bramley apples and golden caster sugar to a round baking dish. Toss together and flatten with your hands.

Make the crumble. Add the plain flour and golden caster sugar to a mixing bowl. Add the chilled butter and rub it into the mixture using your fingertips until it resembles breadcrumbs.

Assemble the crumble. Pour the crumble over the apples and use a fork to evenly distribute it as needed. Lightly press down with the fork to help the crumble hold together. Sprinkle the demerara sugar evenly over the top.

Bake the crumble. Transfer to the preheated oven for 30 minutes,or until the top is golden brown and the apples are tender when you insert a sharp knife. Remove from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
