Ingredients

  • Red lentils: 200g. uncooked
  • Water: 950ml
  • Olive oil: 2 tsp
  • Garlic cloves: 3. finely chopped
  • Oregano: 3 tsp
  • Paprika: 3 tsp
  • Salt: to taste
  • Black pepper: to taste
  • Egg: 1

Instructions

    Transfer the uncooked red lentils to a saucepan and add the water. Bring to a boil over a high heat for 10 minutes,then turn down to low. Leave to boil for 20 minutes.

    Drain the lentils and add to a frying pan over a medium heat. Once the water has all evaporated,add the olive oil to the pan. Add the finely chopped garlic cloves,oregano,paprika,salt and black pepper. Fry for 10 minutes.

    Place the lentils into a large mixing bowl and add the egg. Combine. Using your hands,form 4 small burger patties. Fry or grill the patties for 2 minutes on each side. Serve warm from the grill or pan,in between two burger bun slices.
