How to make French Crêpes With Chocolate Sauce

4 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 cup 5 tbsp all-purpose flour (165g)
  • Pinch of salt
  • 4 eggs
  • 400 ml milk
  • 65 ml water
  • 25 g unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp sugar (you can omit if you are doing savory crêpes)
  • 1 cup powdered milk
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 tablespoons cacao powder
  • 1/4 cup sugar

Instructions

  1. 1

    --- Steps ---

  2. 2

In a big bowl, sift the flour and the salt.

  3. 3

Make a well in the middle and add the eggs.

  4. 4

Whisk until combined. Add half of the milk and whisk.

  5. 5

Then add the remaining milk and run the batter through a sifter to remove any clumps.

  6. 6

Add the water and whisk again (you can pour the water over the sifter if you have a lot of clumps left to help it go through).

  7. 7

(Optional- if you have time) cover the batter with plastic film and let sit one hour.

  8. 8

Just before cooking, melt the butter in a pan and whisk it in the batter.

  9. 9

Wipe the same pan with a paper towel and heat on medium hight heat (no need to grease).

  10. 10

Pour in some batter just enough to cover the pan and tilt to completely cover it.

  11. 11

Cook just until the edges start to brown. Flip and cook the other side until golden.

  12. 12

Repeat for the rest of the batter.

  13. 13

    --- Steps ---

  14. 14

In a pot, mix the dry ingredients.

  15. 15

Add water and cook on medium heat while whisking until they boil.

  16. 16

Lower the heat and keep mixing for around 5 minutes or until they start to thicken.

  17. 17

Let cool and refrigerate until needed. Enjoy! (Credits go to my sister for this delicious sauce)
