Instructions

    In a small bowl, using your fingers, combine the flour and butterAmount1/2 cupIngredient(113 g) butter, cubed until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually add the water, while stirring with a fork, until a dough forms. Divide the dough into two even-sized balls, cover, and refrigerate.

    In a large pan over medium-high heat, warm the oil. Add the onion and garlic, cooking for 5-7 minutes until the onions are translucent. Add the beef and cook for 5 minutes, until no longer pink. Add the tomato paste, oregano, cumin, chili powderAmount1/2 tspIngredientchili powder, paprika, salt, pepper, and salsa, cooking for another 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and let it cool to room temperature.

    Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). On a lightly floured surface, roll each dough ball into a 9-inch circle. Spoon the meat mixture into the center of each circle and top each half with cheese. Fold the dough over the mixture, crimp the edges, and brush each empanada with the egg mixture. Carefully line the air fryer with parchment paper and add an empanada, cooking one at a time, for 8-12 minutes or until crispy and a light golden color.
