Ingredients

  • 2 lb of beef chuck roast cut into same size pieces
  • a few scallions (make a bundle)
  • a piece of thumb size ginger
  • 5 cloves of garlic
  • one medium size daikon radish
  • salt and ground white pepper
  • fresh chopped scallions or cilantro

    Place beef in a big pot with cold water and bring to a boil for about 3-5 minutes, skim out the impurities. Take the meat out in a bowl and discard the water

    Rinse out the beef with cold water, clean the pot and put cold water and the cleaned beef back in

  4. 4

    Slowly bring the water to a boil and skim out any foam/impurities on the top

  5. 5

    Add ginger, scallions, garlic and a piece of kelp(optional)

    Turn down the heat to medium once it starts boiling, simmer for 1.5 - 2 hours until the beef is tender to your liking. Add radish in the last 30 minutes of cooking

    Discard scallions, ginger and garlic once the beef is tender

  8. 8

    Season with salt and grounded white pepper, top with fresh cilantro or scallions before serving
