Caramel Flan

Indulge in this delicious and easy Caramel Flan recipe, perfect for any occasion. A classic dessert that everyone loves.
Ingredients
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 6 large eggs
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup water
- Optional: whipped cream for serving
- Optional: fresh berries for garnish
Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Caramel: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar and 1/2 cup of water. Stir gently until the sugar dissolves, then stop stirring and allow it to boil until it turns a golden amber color.
- 2
Coat the Mold: Once the caramel reaches the desired color, quickly pour it into a round baking dish, swirling the dish to coat the bottom evenly. Be careful as the caramel will be extremely hot.
- 3
Combine Ingredients: In a blender, combine the eggs, sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, vanilla extract, and salt. Blend until smooth and well combined.
- 4
Pour the Mixture: Carefully pour the mixture over the caramel in the baking dish. Tap the dish gently to remove any air bubbles.
- 5
Prepare for Baking: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the baking dish into a larger baking pan and fill the pan with hot water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the flan dish.
- 6
Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the flan is set but still slightly jiggly in the center. Keep an eye on the water level, adding more hot water if necessary.
- 7
Cool Down: Once baked, remove the flan from the water bath and let it cool to room temperature. Then refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight for best results.
- 8
Unmold and Serve: To unmold, run a knife around the edges of the flan and carefully invert it onto a serving plate. The caramel sauce will flow over the top. Serve chilled, optionally topped with whipped cream or berries.
