Marinated seitan brochettes on the Barbecue
6 servings
Ingredients
- For the brochettes
- 175 gram seitan (cut in pieces)
- 6 skewers (soaked in water)
- 1 bell pepper (yellow or red (and / or cherry tomatoes for the variation)
- 2 small red onions
- For the spicy marinade
- 1 tbsp barbecue herbs
- 4 tbsp olive oil
- 1 Red onion (chopped)
- 1 clove of garlic (pressed)
- 0.5 tsp sambal
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- Pepper (to taste)
- For the sweet marinade
- 3 dates (cut into small pieces)
- 0.5 onion (chopped)
- 1 tsp agave syrup
- 3 tbsp sunflower oil
- 0.5 tbsp lemon juice
- Pepper (to taste)
- Salt (to taste)
Instructions
- 1
Mix all the Ingredients for the marinades and put them in a bowl with a sealable lid. Divide the seitan between the 2 marinades. Let stand for a minimum of 2 hours, but the best result you get when soak it in the fridge overnight.
- 2
Cut the bell pepper into cubes of the same size as the seitan. Cut both red onions into four pieces.
- 3
Put a piece of bell pepper, red onion and seitan on the skewers. Just before you put them on the bbq you can best cover them with a little of the marinade.
- 4
And of course ... light the bbq well in advance! Then bake for about 10 minutes and you can start to feast!
