Simple Cream Cheese Straws

28 min

Cheese straws made with cream cheese and grated cheese - super cheesy and tasty!

28 min4 servings

Ingredients

  • 350 g all purpose flour
  • 200 g UNSALTED butter (or if you have to use salted butter, don't add 2 tsp salt, just one or even none)
  • 100 g cream cheese
  • 250 g grated Lancashire or Cheddar cheese (I used Lancashire)
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 egg beaten for egg wash

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat oven to 180 Celsius.Measure out all the ingredients.

  2. 2

Mix everything together. It's best, if the butter is room temperature, so it's easier to knead.

  3. 3

Roll the dough out on a lightly flour dusted surface, about 1.5 cm thick. Aim for a rectangular form as much as you can. See my photo.

  4. 4

You can egg wash at this point, before cutting the straws or after. In my opinion, it's easier to do so before.

  5. 5

Cut the straws, aim for about a 1-2 cm wide straws that are fairly even so they also bake evenly. You can sprinkle with the leftover cheese if any left.

  6. 6

bake for about 13-16 minutes on 180 Celsius.Enjoy!
