Delicious patties made from mashed potatoes, ground beef or bacon and mixed with onion, garlic, and cheese then fried until crispy, offering a delightful combination of crunchy exterior and creamy interior.

📝 Ingredients

  • 4 large potatoes (peeled and grated)
  • 1 lb ground beef (or bacon!)
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 large onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • Oil (for frying)

👨‍🍳 Instructions

  1. 1Grate potatoes
  2. 2In large bowl, mix grated potatoes and salt
  3. 3Place mixture in towle and squeeze out extra water/moisture
  4. 4Using a skillet, warm oil over medium-high heat oil.
  5. 5Form potatoes into patties. Place in hot skillet and fry. Turning to cook both sides until golden
  6. 6Set potatoes aside
  7. 7Add ground beef (or bacon) to skillet and brown. Drain excess fat
  8. 8Stir in onion, salt, pepper, and paprika. Mix will be done when onions are translucent
  9. 9Scoop a spoonful of beef mix and place on top of a potato patty. Spread cheese over top, and place another potato patty on top of the cheese. Press edges to seal
  10. 10In same skillet, fry potato cakes until golden and crispy on both sides
  11. 11Serve hot
