Soft, moist hake baked in a rich and creamy sauce. Topped with cheddar cheese
📝 Ingredients
- 600 gram/or 6 large peices Hake (or any white fish)
- 2 tspn garlic (minced)
- 2 tspn cajun spice
- 1 tbsp butter
- 2 spring onion (chopped)
- 3/4 cup cheddar cheese (grated)
- little sprinkle of paprika
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp cake wheat flour/all purpose flour
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup fresh cream
- salt
- pepper
👨🍳 Instructions
- 1Rub the cajun spice and garlic into the hake and refrigerate
- 2--- Sauce ---
- 3Melt one tablespoon of butter in a saucepan.
- 4Add the flour and whisk until it's smooth. Cook for about a minute
- 5Mix the milk and fresh cream together. Gradually whisk it in. Bring mixture to a boil, stirring at regular intervals until it thickens.
- 6Season with salt and pepper and set aside
- 7--- Cooking the Fish ---
- 8Preheat Oven to 180 degrees celcius
- 9Heat 1 tablespoon butter in a pan. Sear the fish on both sides, about a minute per side
- 10Layer the fish in an ovenproof dish.
- 11Squeeze the lemon juice over the fish. Sprinkle the chopped spring onion on top
- 12Pour the sauce over and sprinkle the cheddar cheese on top. Sprinkle a little paprika over the cheese and bake at 180 degrees celcius for 30-40 minutes or until fish is fully cooked.
