This fried bologna sandwich is crispy, cheesy, old-school comfort food at its finest—the kind of low-effort lunch that somehow never goes out of style.
📝 Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 4 slices bologna (1/4-in. thick)
- 2 slices American cheese
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise or mustard
- 4 slices thick white bread, toasted
- 4 slices tomato
- 2 lettuce leaves
👨🍳 Instructions
- 1Pan-fry the bologna: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the bologna slices, and cook them until their edges are crisp, one to two minutes per side. Top two of the slices of bologna with a slice of American cheese each.
- 2Build the sandwiches: Toast your bread, then spread your choice of mayonnaise or mustard (or both!) over each slice. Slice the fried bologna and cheese on the bottom slices of bread, then top with tomato, lettuce and the remaining bread. Serve the sandwiches while they're still warm. Spread mayonnaise or mustard over the toasted bread slices. Place a slice of bologna and a slice of cheese-covered bologna over the bottom slices of bread. Top the bologna with tomato and lettuce, then top the sandwiches with a second slice of bread.
