Bursting with Asian flavors, this hearty Japanese Beef Teriyaki is ready in just 30 minutes. Perfectly paired with rice, noodles, or vegetables for a satisfying meal!
📝 Ingredients
- 500 g flank steak beef (chopped )
- 1/4 tsp of salt
- 1/4 tsp of white pepper
- 1/4 cup of cornstarch
- 1/2 onion (chopped)
- 2 garlic cloves (crushed)
- 1 tbsp of crushed ginger
- 1/4 cup of water
- 3-5 tablespoons brown sugar (depending on your preference)
- 1/3 cup of soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons of mirin
- 1 tbsp of rice wine vinegar
- 2 tsp of cornstarch (optional)
- Sesame seeds (for garnish)
- Scallions ( for garnish)
👨🍳 Instructions
- 1Combine cornstarch, a pinch of salt, and pepper in a large mixing bowl. Add the beef to the bowl and coat it with the flour mixture. Set it aside 10-15 minutes.
- 2Meanwhile, add water, brown sugar, soy sauce, mirin, and rice wine vinegar to a bowl and mix until combined.
- 3Once the beef has finished marinating, heat enough oil to coat the base of a pan. Add the beef and cook for 5-7 minutes or until done.
- 4Once the beef is done remove it from the heat. Remove any excess oil from the pan and heat 3 tbsp of oil in the same pan. Add onion, ginger and garlic to the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes or until fragrant.
- 5Then, pour the soy sauce mixture into the pan and cook and stir on low heat for 2-3 minutes or until the sauce thickens.
- 6Add the beef back into the pan and cook on medium heat for 1-2 minutes, stirring until filly coated.
- 7Garnish the beef teriyaki with scallions and sesame seeds and serve with rice.
