Cabbage kootu with moong dal, coconut, green chilli and small onion, cumin seeds as flavorings. My mom makes cabbage kootu this way, so I learnt it from her.

📝 Ingredients

  • 2 cups Cabbage (chopped )
  • 1/4 cup Moong dal (paasi paruppu)
  • Salt
  • 1/4 cup Coconut (You can double the quantity for white results)
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 2 Small onion
  • 2 Green chilies
  • 1/4 tsp Rice flour
  • 1 tsp Coconut oil
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard
  • 1 tsp Urad dal
  • 1 sprig Curry leaves

👨‍🍳 Instructions

  1. 1First cook the chopped cabbage with 1 & 1/4 cups of water, salt till done.
  2. 2Add the cooked mashed moong dal and stir well.
  3. 3Grind the ingredients under “To Grind” and stir in to the cooked cabbage.
  4. 4Bring to boil and mix well.
  5. 5Take care not to leave it as such while it boils, as it gets burnt in the bottom if left unattended for a while, so keep stirring.
  6. 6Lastly temper with the items in the "tempering table”and mix well.
