📝 Ingredients
- 2 pounds (1kg) Potatoes
- 1/4 cup Butter
- 2 cups Heavy Cream ((Whipping Cream))
- 1 1/2 cups Gruyere Cheese (grated)
- 3 cloves Garlic (minced)
- 1/2 teaspoon Mustard Powder
- 3/4 teaspoon Nutmeg
- Salt and Pepper to taste
👨🍳 Instructions
- 1Preheat Oven - set oven to 350°F (180°C). Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- 2Parboil Potatoes - cut Potatoes in half and place in a saucepan. Bring to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes. Strain and allow them to cool.
- 3Slice Potatoes - using a cutting board, cut Potatoes into ¼ inch round slices.
- 4Layer Potatoes - layer the sliced Potatoes into greased baking tray.
- 5Prepare Sauce - mix together Heavy Cream, 1 cup Gruyere Cheese, Nutmeg, Garlic, Mustard Powder and Salt and Pepper.
- 6Pour - drizzle the mixture over the tray of sliced Potatoes.
- 7Add Butter - don't skip this, place Butter Cubes evenly across the Potato mixture.
- 8Bake - cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes until Potatoes are tender. Remove foil and sprinkle with remaining Gruyere Cheese. Bake for an additional 10 minutes until cheese is melted and lightly golden.
- 9Rest - remove from oven and rest for 10 minutes. This allows the sauce to set.
- 10Serve - garnish with fresh Parsley or Thyme and enjoy.
