Honey Grilled Trout Recipe

This Honey Dill Trout Grilled Trout recipe is perfect for your next summer bbq. Using a cedar plank adds a smokey, woodsy infusion to your Steelhead Trout fillet or can substitute with a Salmon fillet. Incredibly easy to make, with the perfect flavors for a healthy dinner recipe.
Ingredients
- Steelhead Trout fillet (boneless skin-on)
- salt
- 1 tablespoon honey
- fresh dill (chopped)
- lemon slices
- cedar planks
Instructions
- 1
Fill your sink with water and soak the plank for 2-4 hours. Can add weights on it to keep it submerged under water.
- 2
Pat trout with a paper towel until dry. Season with salt. Spread a light layer of honey over the trout fillet. Generously sprinkle the chopped dill over the trout. Top with lemon slices.
- 3
Turn on bbq and maintain heat at 300°F (150°C)
- 4
Place cedar plank on a bbq grill for about 1 minute, to dry the excess water. When cooking, keep a spray bottle handy to put out any fires if the cedar flares up.
- 5
Place the dressed trout, skin side down, on the drier side of the cedar plank and maintain the bbq on medium heat around 300°F/150°C. Cook for about 15-20 minutes until the trout flakes easily. Don't overcook, internal temp should be 145°F (63°C).
- 6
Enjoy with your favorite grilled vegetables, salads and carbs.
