Our hot dogs are the ultimate mix of smoky, sweet, and spicy: wrapped in crispy bacon, brushed with a maple-bourbon glaze, then topped with Crispy Fried Onions.
📝 Ingredients
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 1/4 cup bourbon
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 6 all-beef hot dogs
- 6 slices bacon
- 3 tablespoons softened butter
- 6 hot dog buns
- 1 jalapeño, sliced thinly
- 1 1/2 cups store-bought fried onions
👨🍳 Instructions
- 1Add the maple syrup, bourbon, Dijon, vinegar, smoked paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, and pepper to a small saucepan. Whisk the ingredients together.
- 2Bring to a light boil, then simmer for 10 minutes until thickened. Remove from the heat.
- 3Wrap each hot dog tightly with one slice of bacon, slightly overlapping and stretching the bacon as you wrap it to help it stay snug around the hot dog.
- 4Preheat the grill to 350 F.
- 5Spritz the skillet with cooking spray.
- 6Place the hot dogs on the skillet.
- 7Cook the bacon-wrapped hot dogs for about 10 minutes, turning every few minutes, until the bacon is browned and crisp.
- 8Brush the hot dogs generously with the maple bourbon sauce and cook for an additional 2 minutes until the sauce is caramelized.
- 9Add the butter to the buns.
- 10Lightly toast the buns.
- 11Spoon a little of the remaining sauce onto each bun.
- 12Add a hot dog to each bun and garnish each with jalapeño slices and crispy onions to serve.
