Chocolate Banana Bread Recipe

This easy Chocolate Banana Bread is moist, rich, and packed with ripe bananas and melty chocolate chips. It’s a delicious twist on classic banana bread and the perfect way to use up those overripe bananas!
Ingredients
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 cup Dutch process or Hershey's Special Dark cocoa
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3 medium ripe bananas (around 1 1/2 cups mashed) (mashed)
- 1 cup buttermilk or 8 oz sour cream
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1/3 cup butter (melted)
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips (divided)

Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray a 9x5-inch loaf pan with baking spray. Set aside.

In a medium mixing bowl, use a whisk to sift together flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt.

In a separate bowl use a fork to mash bananas. Whisk in buttermilk, granulated sugar, brown sugar, butter, egg and vanilla.

Add wet to dry ingredients, mixing by hand with a large spoon or spatula until fully moistened. Mix in 3/4 cup chocolate chips.

Spread into prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle top with reserved chocolate chips. (You may use more chocolate chips on top, if desired)

Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center shows moist crumbs.

Cool in pan for 15 minutes then remove to a cooling rack to cool completely then slice and serve.
