  • 12 ounces angle hair or spaghetti pasta (regular or gluten free)
  • 2 Tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 Tablespoons butter (unsalted)
  • 4 garlic cloves (thinly sliced)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon Calabrian chili paste (or use 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper)
  • 1 1/2 pounds fresh tomatoes (chopped)
  • 3/4 cup pasta cooking water
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil (minced)
  • Parmesan cheese (for serving (optional))
