Introducing our delicious Jeera Rice Recipe, made with basmati rice and cumin seeds. This aromatic and flavourful cumin rice dish, is the perfect accompaniment to many main meals. 📝 Ingredients
- 1/2 tbsp Vegetable Oil
- 1 tbsp Cumin Seeds
- 400 grams Rice (2 cups) (wash the rice through a sieve before cooking.)
- 625 ml Cold Water (2 1/2 cup)
- 2 curry leaves
- 3 cardamom pods
- cinnamon stick
- 1 green chilli
- 1 tbsp Fresh Coriander Leaves (chopped to serve)
👨🍳 Instructions
- 1Fry 1 tbsp Cumin Seeds in ½ tbsp Vegetable Oil for 1 min
- 2Rice: Wash 400 grams Rice (2 cups) add into the oil and cumin seeds
- 3Flavourings: Add 625 ml Cold Water (2 ½ cup) and any optional flavourings like 2 curry leaves , 3 cardamom pods , and a cinnamon stick .If using 1 green chilli, cut a slit lengthways in it to allow the heat to seep out.Turn on maximum heat. Bring the rice and water to the boil.
- 4Lid: Turn the heat down to the lowest setting. Place a lid on the pan and cook for 10 minutes.
- 5Steam: LEAVE LID ON. Turn heat off, and time for another 10 minutes to finish cooking in the steam. Remove the optional flavourings which will have floated to the top.
- 6Fluff the rice with a fork.
- 7Serve with 1 tbsp Fresh Coriander Leaves finely chopped.
