No condensed milk in the cupboard? This Homemade Condensed Milk uses simple pantry staples and gives you a smooth, reliable result whenever you need it.
📝 Ingredients
- 500 ml – 2 cups milk
- 200 g – 1 cup sugar
- 1 pinch baking soda
👨🍳 Instructions
- 1Pour the milk into a pan and add the sugar.
- 2Bring it to a boil, then simmer over medium–high heat, stirring regularly. Let it reduce to half its volume; this should take about 20 minutes. The milk can boil over at any time, so keep watching it.
- 3After about 17–18 minutes, the milk will turn a vibrant colour and become very frothy.
- 4Switch off the heat and add the baking soda. Stir well and let it cool.
- 5Once cooled, stir well and store in an airtight container or use immediately.
