Old Fashioned Butterscotch Tart Recipe

A Butterscotch Tart tastes like browned butter, caramelised cream, and sugar, sometimes with a touch of salt to cut through the sweetness. This old school dessert may seem old-fashioned to some, but it's a classic that can easily be made modern with different decorations, and it's thoroughly delicious too!
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup white chocolate chips
- 280 g unsalted butter (1 1/4 cups)
- 170 ml whole milk (2/3 cup)
- 280 g light brown sugar (1 1/3 cups + 1 tbsp)
- 6 tbsp plain flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt (optional – for a salted butterscotch tart)
- 275 g plain flour (2 cups)
- 125 g unsalted butter (cold, cubed) (1/2 cup + 1 tbsp)
- 3 tbsp sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1-2 tbsp cold water
