Cranberry Pear Sauce

Sweet tart Cranberry Pear Sauce is the absolute BEST homemade cranberry sauce. This gorgeous and simple side dish is a must have for the holiday season.
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup water
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- Zest and juice of 1 orange
- 12 oz. fresh cranberries (3 cups )
- 2 ripe barlett or d'anjou pears (peeled and chopped)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla

In a medium saucepan, combine the water, sugar, orange zest, and orange juice. Bring to a boil over medium high heat, stirring occasionally, until sugar is dissolved.

Add cranberries and pears, return to a boil, then lower heat so it maintains a gentle boil. Continue to cook until cranberries pop and pears are softened, stirring occasionally, about 7-10 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.

Allow to cool then cover and refrigerate until ready to serve, at least four hours or up to five days. Sauce will thicken as it cools.
