Orange Pound Cake

This orange pound cake is moist, buttery, and full of fresh citrus flavor! It's an easy loaf cake perfect for brunch, dessert, or snacking.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup butter (softened)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tbsp orange zest
  • 1/4 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1/2 cup milk (or sour cream)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tbsp fresh orange juice
  • 1 tsp orange zest (optional)

Instructions

    Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and line a loaf pan (8x4 or 9x5) with parchment paper.

    In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt.

    In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy (about 2–3 minutes).

    Mix in eggs one at a time. Add orange zest, orange juice, and vanilla.

    Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk (or sour cream), mixing just until combined.

    Pour batter into prepared loaf pan. Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

    Let cake cool in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

    If desired, whisk glaze ingredients and drizzle over cooled cake. Slice and enjoy!
