  • 16 oz. dry black eyed peas (rinsed, but not soaked)
  • 6 cups water
  • 3 beef bouillon cubes (crushed)
  • 1 onion (diced)
  • 1 red bell pepper (diced)
  • 1 jalapeno pepper (seeded and diced)
  • 6 slices uncooked bacon (chopped)
  • 1 cup chopped ham (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1-1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper

  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
