These sweet and tart baked apples with walnuts and cider will change the way you see healthy desserts! Only one tablespoon of butter and sugar are used and yet, these baked apples taste rich and decadent.

📝 Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons chopped walnuts
  • 1 tablespoon salted butter
  • 2 apples (I like Honeycrisp)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup hard apple cider

👨‍🍳 Instructions

  1. 1Preheat oven to 375ºF.
  2. 2Core both apples and put them in an oven proof deep dish pan, or aluminum pie plate.
  3. 3Pour apple cider over the apples and sprinkle sugar and cinnamon on top.
  4. 4Put one tablespoon of chopped walnuts in the center of each apple and top with half a tablespoon of butter.
  5. 5Bake in the oven for 50 minutes to one hour.
  6. 6Serve in individual bowls or plates and finish by spooning the sauce over the baked apples.
