Harissa Spice Blend

Homemade harissa seasoning made with a classic blend of spices. Use this powder as a dry rub or turn it into a substitute for harissa paste.

Ingredients
- 3/4 teaspoon caraway seeds
- 3/4 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon whole coriander seed
- 1 Tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 1 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 3 Tablespoons lemon juice or red wine vinegar (or a mix of the 2)
- 1/4 cup olive oil

Toast cumin and coriander in a dry small skillet over medium-low heat, tossing constantly, until very fragrant, about 3 minutes.

Grind: Transfer the spices to a spice grinder (or use a mortar and pestle). Pulse until spices are broken up. Mix with the remaining spices.
