This steak and celeriac dish is quick and easy, yet delivers big flavours meaning that you can cook something imaginative midweek. Earthy celeriac is a great alternative to chips and works perfectly with the rich red wine sauce.
📝 Ingredients
- 1 small celeriac peeled and cut into chunks
- milk
- oil
- 2 sirloin steaks thick cut
- 1 red onion sliced
- 1 glass red wine
- 1 tsp brown sugar
👨🍳 Instructions
- 1Simmer the celeriac in water for about 15 minutes or until it is tender. Drain and mash with milk and lots of seasoning.
- 2Put a little oil in a hot frying pan and add the steaks, add the onion around the edges and cook for 2 minutes. Turn the steaks over and stir the onions around. After 2 minutes, add the red wine and brown sugar and bubble everything together to make a sauce. Season well and serve with the mash.
