This beer battered fish is made with only a few ingredients. It’s super easy to make and is crispy and delicious.

📝 Ingredients

  • 6 cod fillets
  • 1 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cup dark beer ((stout or porter))
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 4 cups vegetable or canola oil ((enough to cover and fry each fish))

👨‍🍳 Instructions

  1. 1Heat the oil in a wok, Dutch oven, or a deep fryer until it reaches a temperature of about 350°F (175°C).
  2. 2Combine 1 cup of flour, paprika and about ½ a teaspoon each of the salt and black pepper in a mixing bowl.
  3. 3Slowly pour the beer into the flour mixture, whisk until smooth.
  4. 4Season the fish with the remaining salt and pepper.
  5. 5Working with one fish at a time, lightly coat the fish with some of the remaining flour and then dip the fish into the flour and beer mixture.
  6. 6Carefully drop the fish into the heated oil and fry until it’s golden brown (about 10 minutes).
  7. 7Set the fish aside on a plate lined with paper towels and repeat the steps to fry the remaining fish.
