Delve into comfort with my mom's Homemade Mashed Potatoes, a cherished recipe passed down for generations. Simple yet decadent, these creamy, rich, and flavorful potatoes are an ideal side for any occasion. Easy to prepare but bursting with homely warmth, they're sure to elevate your everyday meals to something truly special.
📝 Ingredients
- 4 pounds potatoes (Yukon Gold or Russet )
- 6 tablespoon butter (unsalted, at room temperature)
- 1 cup milk (or cream)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper (black or white)
👨🍳 Instructions
- 1Peel and cut the potatoes in equal size pieces so that they all cook at the same time. Place the potatoes into a large pot and fill with cold water. Make sure there is enough water to fully cover the potatoes. Add about 1 teaspoon of salt to the water and stir.
- 2Cook uncovered about 15 to 20 minutes or until the potatoes are fork tender.
- 3Heat the milk on the stove top or in the microwave until warm, but not boiling hot.
- 4Drain the potatoes and transfer them to a bowl. Add the butter and begin mashing using a potato masher. Pour in the milk and continue mashing until you reach the desired consistency.
- 5Season with salt and pepper and serve while warm.
