📝 Ingredients
- 4 medium Chicken hotdogs
- 1 cup All purpose flour
- 2 teaspoon baking powder
- 2 tablespoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon red pepper
- 1 medium egg
- 1/2 cup milk or water
- Oil (for frying)
- 2 tablespoon mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoon ketchup
- 2 teaspoons yellow mustard
- 1 teaspoon pepper
👨🍳 Instructions
- 1Prep your skewers by cutting them into 3-4 parts and rinsing them. If you don’t have skewers, toothpicks work just fine!
- 2Slice each hotdog into 5-6 equal pieces, then gently poke a skewer or toothpick into each hotdog piece. Repeat for all the hotdog pieces.
- 3Roll each hotdog piece in a bit of flour to help the batter stick better. Shake off any excess flour and set the floured hotdog aside.
- 4In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, sugar, salt and red pepper (if using). Stir well to mix everything evenly.
- 5Make a well in the middle of the dry mixture, add in the egg and pour in the milk (or water).
- 6Stir until the batter is smooth. If it’s too thick, add a little more water; if too runny, a bit more flour.
- 7Heat oil in a pan over medium heat (enough oil to deep fry). To test if the oil is ready, drop in a bit of batter, it sizzles and floats, you’re good to go.
- 8Dip each floured hotdog piece into the batter, making sure it’s completely covered.
- 9Gently place them into the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry in batches if necessary.
- 10Fry the buns for about 5-6 minutes, flipping occasionally until they’re golden brown and crispy on all sides.
- 11Once golden and crispy, remove from the oil and drain on paper towels or a metal sieve.
- 12Serve with your favorite sauce, dip or condiment and enjoy!
- 13Please don’t forget to remove toothpicks or skewers for younger kids before serving.
