Jugo de avena, the Dominican oatmeal cold drink is a refreshing and nutritional beverage, the perfect breakfast drink for the summertime and one of kids' favorites.
📝 Ingredients
- 1 quart skim milk ([1 liter] (optional))
- 1 cup rolled oats ((whole, not instant))
- 1 cup sugar (white, granulated) ((you might not use all of it))
- 2 cups ice cubes ((optional))
- Juice of 3 limes
👨🍳 Instructions
- 1--- 1. Blending ---
- 2Blending: Combine the milk and oats.💡 Substitute potable water for milk for a dairy-free version. Blend at high speed for 3 minutes. Sieve to get rid of solids (optional). Add sugar to taste.
- 3--- 2. Chilling ---
- 4Chilling: Add the ice, and stir until it is cold. Slowly pour the lime juice into the oatmeal mix stirring constantly. ⚠️ If you made it with milk and want to serve later, then store in the fridge and do not mix with the lime juice until right before serving or the milk will curdle.
- 5--- 3. Serving ---
