Fried cauliflower, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. A delicious and flavorful appetizer or side dish ready in just 20 minutes.

📝 Ingredients

  • 2 cups unsweetened plant milk
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 large head of cauliflower
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp ground black pepper
  • Oil for frying (I used canola oil)

👨‍🍳 Instructions

  1. 1Mix the plant milk and vinegar in a jar or bowl until well combined. Let the mixture rest at room temperature for at least 5 minutes. After this time, the milk will thicken and curdle.
  2. 2Wash and cut the cauliflower head into bite-sized pieces or florets.
  3. 3Mix all the dry ingredients in a large bowl (flour, cornstarch, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper) until well combined.
  4. 4Add the milk and vinegar mixture to the large bowl and stir again. Set aside.
  5. 5Heat the oil in a large skillet until it reaches 350°F (180°C).
  6. 6Dip each floret into the batter and coat evenly. Shake off the excess and fry the florets for 3-5 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  7. 7Drain the pieces on a wire or paper towels. Let them cool for at least 5 minutes before serving.
  8. 8Serve your fried cauliflower recipe immediately with vegan protein like baked tofu, seitan, tempeh, or even fried tofu. You can also serve it with your favorite sauce.
  9. 9Keep the leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.
