Ingredientes
- Ingredients mentioned below use standard measuring cups and spoons.
- 2 and 1/2 cups of bread flour(regular wheat flour)
- 2 tablespoon of Sugar
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla(optional but if you have the essence, use it).
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon of oil
- 1 and 1/2 cups of water(add 1/4 cup more if you find the batter too thick)
- To make baking powder
- If you do have baking powder use 2 teaspoons of it instead of making the rising agent with the ingredients mentioned below.
- 1 teaspoon vinegar
- 1 teaspoon of soda(also known as bicarbonate soda, baking soda)
Modo de preparo
- 1
Add flour( 2 and 1/2 cups), salt(1 tsp), sugar(2 tbs), vanilla(1 tsp, optional), oil(1 tbs)into a large bowl.
- 2
Into a cup, pour in the vinegar(1 tsp)and baking soda(1 tsp).
- 3
As I mentioned earlier on my ingredient list, you can substitute this by adding 2 teaspoons of baking powder if you have it.
- 4
You will want to see the baking soda fizz as it hits the vinegar. set aside.
- 5
Into the dairy-free pancake mixture, pour in(1 and 1/2 cups of water).
- 6
Use a whisk to combine the ingredients and make the eggless, milk-free, pancake mix.
- 7
Once you have a smooth and thick batter, add in the baking soda and mix it in to the pancake batter.
- 8
Do not whisk but use a spoon to combine.
- 9
The batter should be thick that when you raise the spoon and pour it back into the bowl, the mixture doesn’t fall in clumps but gives you smooth but a slow pour back into the bowl.
- 10
Set aside for 3-5 minutes.
- 11
HOW TO MAKE PANCAKES.
- 12
I am using my Tawa(large flat pan used to make dosa)because I need to make a large batch of pancakes.
- 13
Using the Tawa, I can make two pancakes at a time but you can use your regular flat frying pan as well(refer tip notes on this).
- 14
Place the Tawa or frying pan heat pan over low fire for a few seconds(30-40 seconds).
- 15
Use 1/3 measuring cup to pour in the batter in the centre of the pan.
- 16
Now here’s where you need to pay attention to get your pancakes to rise as mine.
- 17
You need to keep an eye and take note of the little signs that will help you know when to flip the pancake once it rises.
- 18
Once you pour the batter, gently increase the heat from low to medium(not high).
- 19
What you are doing here is giving a little burst of heat to get the baking soda to activate and make the pancakes rise.
- 20
Then seconds into cooking, you will notice a little smoke as well as the pancake rise with tiny holes appearing on top.
- 21
Once you notice the tiny holes appear, continue to cook for 10 seconds.
- 22
You flip as the outer edges of the pancake are cooked but the middle of the pancake still has a little bit of raw batter.
- 23
Reduce heat as you gently flip the pancake.
- 24
Cook the flipped side for 20-30 seconds over reduced heat and transfer to a plate.
- 25
Continue cooking until the batter is done.
- 26
For your reference point, I have tried out 3 batches of pancakes with increased amounts of water.
- 27
My personal preference was batch 1 and 3.
- 28
You can read about the results of the different batches above.
