Peixe empanado na cerveja

Peixe crocante empanado com cerveja. Seja qual for o nome — “fish and chips” ou “fish fry” —, é uma comida reconfortante e deliciosa!
Ingredientes
- 1 c unbleached all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp ground white pepper
- 1/4 tsp turmeric ((optional, for color))
- 1 c beer
- 2 lb fish fillets ((cod or haddock) 1/2 thick fillets patted dry, cut into 2-3 inch pieces)
- Oil ((for pan frying))
- Malt vinegar
- Tartar sauce
Modo de preparo
- 1
Mix dry batter ingredients together.
- 2
Add enough beer to form a smooth batter.
- 3
Pour ½ inch of oil into a cast iron skillet. Heat the oil to 375F. (Or until a little batter dropped into the oil sizzles and turns golden in 2 minutes.)
- 4
Dip the fish pieces in the batter, coating well.
- 5
Place battered fish pieces into the hot oil, being careful not to crowd them.
- 6
Cook the fish for 2-3 minutes per side. (The fish is done when the pieces are golden and firm.)
- 7
Remove the fried fish to a plate lined with paper towels. Continue with the remaining fish.
