These Italian antipasto skewers are an easy, festive appetizer made with Italian meats, cheeses, and marinated vegetables. Completely customizable and perfect for making ahead, they’re ideal for holiday entertaining. Naturally gluten-free.
📝 Ingredients
- 1/3 lb mortadella
- 1/3 lb prosciutto
- 1/3 lb salami
- 1/3 lb pepperoni
- 8 oz bocconcini (or fresh mozzarella, cut into small cubes)
- 8 oz provolone or gouda (spicy if you like heat!)
- 12 oz jar of roasted red peppers
- 12 oz jar of marinated artichoke hearts
- 1 pint cherry or grape tomatoes
- 1/2 cup olives (any variety)
- 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves
👨🍳 Instructions
- 1Assemble the skewers: Lay all ingredients out before you begin. We like each skewer to include at least 1 fresh basil leaf, 1 cheese, and 2 cured meats, then fill in with olives and veggies. If basil leaves are large, cut them in half or thirds so everything feels balanced and bite-sized. Continue until all ingredients are used.
- 2Create the wreath: Arrange skewers in a single layer on a round serving board or tray, forming a circle and leaving space in the center for a small bowl. (If using marble or a delicate surface, line with parchment first.) Add a second layer on top to create a full, festive wreath shape.
- 3Finish the board: Place any leftover olives, vegetables, or cheese in a small bowl in the center. Add a few extra toothpicks or skewers on the side for easy serving.
- 4Serve: Enjoy immediately, or cover tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate until needed. Let the antipasto come to room temperature before serving for the best flavor.
