- 1 tsp vegetable oil
- 4 lb pork shoulder roast
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1/4 cup light brown sugar
- 1 tbsp yellow mustard
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 1 large onion (chopped)
- 2 cloves garlic (crushed)
- 1 1/2 tsp dried thyme
- 8 hamburger buns (split)
- 2 tbsp butter (or more as needed for toasting)
👨🍳 Instructions
- 1Pour vegetable oil into the bottom of your slow cooker.
- 2Place the pork shoulder roast inside.
- 3Add barbecue sauce, apple cider vinegar, and chicken broth.
- 4Stir in brown sugar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, chopped onion, crushed garlic, and dried thyme.
- 5Cover and cook on LOW for 10–12 hours or HIGH for 5–6 hours, until the pork is fall-apart tender.
- 6Remove pork and shred it using two forks.
- 7Return the shredded meat to the slow cooker and mix it well with the flavorful juices.
- 8Spread butter on the insides of the hamburger buns and toast them, butter-side down, in a skillet over medium heat until golden.
- 9Pile the pulled pork onto the toasted buns. Serve and enjoy!
