- 1/2 Quart Strawberry Ice Cream (- or any ice cream flavor you love)
- 1 whole Pound Cake (- homemade or store-bought (substitute: angel food cake or sponge cake))
- 1 pound Fresh Strawberries (- hulled & sliced)
- 3 TBS Amaretto Liqueur (- OPTIONAL (SEE NOTES))
- 2 TBS Honey
- 2 tsp Fresh Lemon Juice
- as needed Flaky Sea Salt
- Optional toppings: Strawberry Shortcake Crumbles (Whipped Cream and Fresh Mint Sprig)
👨🍳 Instructions
- 1Make Strawberry Sauce: Macerate the Strawberries for Sauce: In a medium sized bowl, combine the strawberries, amaretto, honey, and lemon juice with a pinch of flakey sea salt. Use a spoon and gently toss, stir to coat the berries.Then, let the strawberries sit at room temperature and macerate for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
- 2Cube the Cake: Place the cake onto a clean work surface and then use a sharp knife to cut it into ½-inch thick slices. Then, use a knife to cut the slices into cubes or use a cookie cutter to cut the slices into rounds.
- 3Layer the Ingredients in a Glass: Layer the Ingredients in Sundae Glass: Add a small amount of the macerated strawberries and sauce to the bottom of a tall glass or sundae bowl. Then, add a couple cubes or one large round of pound cake into a sundae serving glass. Next, top with a large scoop of ice cream. Then, some of the strawberries along with their sauce. If using a tall glass, repeat the layer one more time.
