  • For Chaat Dahi:
  • 1 cup plain yogurt, chilled
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon black or rock salt
  • For Avocado Chaat:
  • 1 can (400 grams) chickpeas, rinsed and drained
  • 3 medium avocados
  • 1/2 cup cucumber, chopped
  • 1/2 cup tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 1 medium-sized red onion, chopped
  • 1 small green chili, chopped
  • 2 small kiwis, chopped
  • 1/2 cup boiled & peeled potatoes, chopped
  • 2-3 tablespoons chopped cilantro/coriander leaves, plus some for garnish
  • 1/4 cup grapes, sliced (you can also use pomegranate arils)
  • 1/4 cup sweet tamarind chutney
  • 1/4 cup green mint coriander chutney
  • 1/4 cup roasted peanuts (I am using salted ones)
  • Thin or Nylon sev (optional)
  • Roasted cumin powder, to taste
  • Chaat masala powder, to taste
  • Black salt or regular salt, to taste
  • Red chili powder, to taste
  • For serving:
  • Cream crackers or papdi
  • NOTE: Some ingredients can be replaced with their vegan counterparts.

  2. 2In a bowl, whisk together plain yogurt, sugar, and black or rock salt until well combined. Set aside.

  5. 5Slice avocados in half, and dice them. Use slightly firm avocados here as they keep their shape very well. In a large mixing bowl, add chickpeas (you can also use soaked and boiled chickpeas here), diced avocados, chopped cucumber, tomatoes, red onion, green chili, kiwis, boiled potatoes, chopped cilantro, and sliced grapes.
