Recipe for super crispy air fryer wings that yield light and crunchy wings seasoned with a delicious homemade chicken dry rub.
📝 Ingredients
- 1 lb chicken wings
- 1/4 cup starch
- 1/2 cup panko
- 1 egg (lightly whisked)
- olive oil spray
- 2 tsps paprika
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp ground black pepper
- 1 tsp brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp kosher or sea salt
- 1 tsp dried orange or lime zest (optional)
👨🍳 Instructions
- 1--- For the rub ---
- 2Mix all the rub ingredients in a small mixing bowl. Set aside.
- 3--- For the wings ---
- 4Preheat air fryer at 400 degrees for 5 minutes.
- 5Prepare your dredge by mixing a bit of seasoning to the starch. Similarly beat your egg to make the egg wash and then add a bit of seasoning to the wash.
- 6Season wings evenly with dry rub.
- 7Dredge wings in the starch. Shake off any excess starch, then dip coated wings into the egg wash.
- 8Move the chicken wings to a plate of the panko breading and coat evenly.
- 9Lightly spray both sides of the chicken wings with cooking spray.
- 10Place wings in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
- 11Air Fry for 15 minutes at 400 degrees F. Flip wings halfway through cooking.
- 12When done cooking, take wings immediately out of the air fryer basket.
