Apple brown sugar syrup is a warmly spiced simple syrup made with fresh Honeycrisp apples and dark brown sugar. Make all your favorite apple-flavored coffee drinks at home with this sweet, cozy syrup!

📝 Ingredients

  • 1 large Honeycrisp apple (chopped)
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar (or light brown)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 3 whole cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

👨‍🍳 Instructions

  1. 1Combine the apple, brown sugar, water, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  2. 2Once the mixture comes to a boil, lower the heat to medium-low and simmer the syrup for 20 to 25 minutes until the apples are very tender and the syrup has reduced.
  3. 3Remove the pan from the heat, gently mash the apples with a potato masher or wooden spoon, and allow the syrup to cool and infuse for about 15 minutes.
  4. 4Strain the syrup into a container through a fine mesh sieve, pressing the apples into the strainer to extract as much syrup as possible. Once the syrup is completely cooled, transfer it to a bottle for storage.
