This healthy spaghetti sauce is a mild tomato based pasta sauce. It’s an excellent pantry staple that you can use for a wide range of different recipes, including of course, spaghetti!
📝 Ingredients
- 2 14 oz cans of diced tomatoes ((2 x 400 g))
- 3 tbsp tomato paste
- 3 tbsp finely chopped basil
- 1 onion
- 3 garlic cloves
- 1 tbsp olive oil
👨🍳 Instructions
- 1First, you should finely chop the onion and mince the garlic.
- 2Heat the olive oil in a large pot. Add the onion, and saute for a few minutes until the onion is soft and translucent.
- 3Then, add the tomato paste and garlic, and saute for about 30 seconds while stirring until they are warmed up.
- 4Add the canned diced tomatoes and salt, and stir to combine.
- 5Cover with a lid, and leave the sauce to simmer on very low heat for up to 1 hour. Give the sauce a stir every 20 minutes to ensure that it doesn’t burn.
- 6You can either keep the sauce chunky, or if you prefer a smooth spaghetti sauce, you can use an immersion blender or a regular blender to blend it completely smooth.
- 7Lastly, finely chop fresh basil, and add this to the sauce a few minutes before serving.
