A classic caramel recipe is taken to the next level with apple extract and spices.
📝 Ingredients
- 1 cup (200 grams) granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) water
- 3/4 cup (180 ml) heavy cream
- 1/2 teaspoon apple extract
- 3 1/2 tablespoons unsalted butter (cubed)
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- Small pinch nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon allspice
👨🍳 Instructions
- 1To a medium saucepan add the sugar and water.
- 2Heat over medium-low heat until sugar dissolves.
- 3Mix the apple extract into the cream.
- 4Increase the heat until the sugar mixture bubbles and continue to cook until it starts to turn brown.
- 5Immediately remove from heat.
- 6Whisk in the heavy cream (it will bubble) until well mixed.
- 7Stir in the butter and the salt, nutmeg, cinnamon and allspice.
- 8Transfer to a jar with a lid and allow to cool.
