What if there’s nothing in the fridge but carrots, cabbage, and egg? That’s easy! Make orak arik!

📝 Ingredients

  • 200 gr cabbage, finely shredded
  • 1 medium carrot, peeled and julienned
  • 3 shallots, peeled, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, peeled, chopped
  • 0.5 tsp white pepper powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 egg
  • Half cup water
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

👨‍🍳 Instructions

  1. 1In a mortar and pestle or blender, pound/blend the shallots and garlic into a fine paste.
  2. 2Heat the oil in a wok over medium high heat.
  3. 3Sauté the paste until fragrant, around 3 minutes.
  4. 4Add the carrots, fry for one minute.
  5. 5Add the cabbage, fry for about 1 minute.
  6. 6Add water, stir well.
  7. 7Add salt, and then the pepper powder.
  8. 8Stir and mix the veggies thoroughly for about 5 minutes.
  9. 9Crack the egg on top of the veggies and quickly stir thoroughly, and continue cooking for another 3 minutes until the egg is done.
  10. 10Turn off the heat and transfer the dish onto a serving plate.
