Seasoned with garlic, lemon, and the North African spice blend ras el hanout, these air fryer chicken thighs always turn out golden and juicy with perfectly crisp skin. Change up the spice blend and it's easy to customize this recipe however you like!
📝 Ingredients
- 2 pounds (4 to 6) chicken thighs
- 1 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil
- 1 lemon, (zested and juiced (3 tablespoons juice))
- 2 garlic cloves, (grated)
- 1 tablespoon ras el hanout (or spice blend of your choice)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
👨🍳 Instructions
- 1Mix marinade. Combine olive oil, lemon zest and juice, garlic, ras el hanout, salt, and pepper in a bowl large enough to accommodate the chicken.
- 2Marinate chicken thighs. Pat each chicken thigh dry on both sides. One at a time, add the chicken thighs to the marinade, turning to coat each one. Marinate the chicken for at least 15 minutes, and up to a day ahead. If marinating for longer than 15 minutes, cover and refrigerate.
- 3Get ready. Preheat the air fryer to 380°F for 5 minutes.
- 4Air fry chicken thighs. Place the chicken thighs in the air fryer basket skin side down in a single layer, leaving space between each one. Cook chicken thighs until beginning to brown, about 10 minutes. Flip and cook for another 6 to 8 minutes until well browned all over and the internal temperature registers 165°F using an instant read thermometer.
- 5Crisp the skin. If you like, increase temperature to 400°F and air fry for another 2 to 3 minutes. Remove chicken thighs from the air fryer.
- 6Rest and serve. Rest the chicken thighs for 5 minutes before serving.
