Überbackener Toast mit Schinken, Ei und Käse

Knuspriger Toast mit einer Scheibe Schinken, einem Ei und geschmolzenem Käse. In fünfzehn Minuten fertig und gut genug für alle am Tisch.
Zutaten
- 4 slices sturdy white or farmhouse bread
- 4 slices cooked ham
- 4 eggs
- 80 g grated matured cheese (e.g. Gouda)
- 1 tbsp soft butter or olive oil
- Freshly ground black pepper to taste
- Pinch of paprika powder (optional)
- Handful of fresh chives, finely chopped
Zubereitung

Preheat the oven to 200°C (top and bottom heat) or switch the grill on.Place the slices of bread on a baking sheet and lightly spread them with butter or olive oil.Top each slice with a piece of ham and fold the edges up slightly so the egg will stay on top later.Carefully crack an egg onto each slice, placing it in the center on top of the ham.Grate the cheese finely and distribute it over the toasts. Season with pepper and, if you like, a pinch of paprika powder.Slide the baking sheet into the oven and gratinate the toasts for 8 to 10 minutes until the whites are set and the cheese turns golden brown.Remove the toasts from the oven, sprinkle with fresh chives and serve immediately.
