  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice (, freshly squeezed)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (, sifted)
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/6 cup caster sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1/2 cup cold butter (, cut into small cubes)
  • 2 tablespoons butter (, softened (for the mold))
  • Square baking dish (, 9-inch / 22 cm)
  • Stand mixer

Zubereitung

  1. 1

    Preheat the oven to 350 F (175°C).

  2. 2

Butter a 9-inch (22 cm) square baking dish.

  3. 3

In a bowl, combine the apples and lemon juice and place them at the bottom of the baking dish.

  4. 4

In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine the flour, brown sugar, caster sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, ground cloves and salt.

  5. 5

Using the flat beater, pulse twice to combine all the ingredients.

  8. 8

Bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until the surface is lightly browned.

  9. 9
